  Welding and Fabrication  


Master Welding Course
Combination Welder/Master Course (2001)(061617): Students may start at any time during the semester and progress at their own pace. Classes provide training for beginning students as well as those seeking welding certifications. Hours may be arranged to suit individual needs. Both beginning and advanced students are welcome.

Beginning Welder
This course is designed to develop entry-level skills. Students will receive hands-on training in the different welding processes, including:
  • Oxy-Acetylene Welding & Cutting
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG/Heliarc)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG)
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick)
  • Flux Cored Arc Welding (Innershield)
  • Plasma Arc Cutting
Also included in this course are:
  • blueprint reading
  • shop math
  • fabrication
  • certification preparation and testing
Upon successful completion of six to nine months of study, students will be prepared for entry-level positions in the construction, manufacturing and aerospace industries.

Advanced Welding
This course is designed to prepare students to pass certification tests. The classes include:
  • L.A. City Structural Steel, Flux Cored Arc Welding
  • Light Gage and Structural Aluminum .
  • AWS D1.1 Structural Steel & D1.5 Bridge Welding
  • ASME pressure vessel pipe certification
  • API 1104 pipe certification
  • Mil Std 1595A in Carbon Steel, Chromolly, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Titanium and Inconel.
Blueprint reading, fabrication and pipe layout techniques are also included in this class.

Welder Fabricator
Students receive training in the various welding and fabrication techniques, and gain experience operating:
  • Ironworkers

  • Cold Saw
  • Tube Benders
  • Pipe Benders
  • Diacro Bender
  • Plate Shear
  • Vertical Mill
  • Power Press Brake
  • Horizontal Bandsaw
  • Slip Rolls

  • Hossfeld Bender
  • Sheet Metal Shear
